Unkapanı (Atatürk) Bridge is a strategic transportation structure providing road and pedestrian connectivity across the Golden Horn between the districts of Fatih and Beyoğlu in Istanbul. The bridge also allows uninterrupted maritime traffic through its movable central span. Over time, structural deterioration, ground movements, and seismic risks have increased the need to enhance the structural performance and safety of the bridge. In this context, a comprehensive engineering and rehabilitation program has been developed to repair, renew, and strengthen the bridge against the potential impacts of a major Istanbul earthquake. The project scope includes conducting structural analyses and calculations for the bridge abutments, preparing repair and strengthening design projects, ensuring multidisciplinary coordination, and managing the engineering design processes.
