The project involves expanding the Mersin International Port area by approximately four times and increasing its annual container capacity from 2.6 million TEU to 3.6 million TEU. The existing pier on the eastern quay will be extended by 368 meters using steel piles. On the western side of the project, a 936m long, 5-story block quay will be constructed for RoRo vessels and tugboats. The area between the eastern and western piers will be used as a container storage area for RMG cranes. On the southern quay, riprap and crown wall constructions will be implemented. The existing quay structure will also be improved as part of the expansion project, resulting in a total port structure of approximately 270,000 m², where 900m of STS and RMG crane systems will operate. Design and coordination work was carried out within the scope of the project.
